Information: Born: July 25, 1907 - Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany Died: April 14, 1987 - Hausham, Upper Bavaria, Germany The German composer and teacher, Karl Höller, received training in piano, organ, and cello in Bamberg. He then was a student of Zilcher (composition) at the Würzburg Conservatory and of Joseph Haas and Waltershausen (composition), Gatscher (organ), and Hausegger (conducting) at the Munich Academy of Music. He also took courses with Sandberger at the University of Munich. After teaching at the Munich Academy of Music from 1933 to 1937 and the Frankfurt am Main Hochschule für Musik from 1937 to 1946), Karl Höller taught from 1949 to 1972 a master-class in composition at the Munich Hochschule für Musik, where he also served as its president from 1954 to 1972. In 1955 he became a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts and in 1958 honorary member of the Bavarian Academy of fine Arts. His compositional style owed much to late Romanticism.
