Information: Nicolás Prada Díaz - Composer He began his musical studies in piano at the age of 16 in the Juan N. Corpas university, two years later he moved on to composition and theory with Master Jorge H. Pinzón and teacher Alena Krasustkaya. In May 2010 he was flown out to Philadelphia (USA) to present his piece "Concierto a la Colombiana" as a world premiere. Performed by the string orchestra of Temple University under the direction of Maestro Luis Biava, where he received accolades from the U.S public and new proposals to interpret his music. In that same year a contest was held by "Jóvenes Compositores en Escena" (Young Composers on Stage) in which the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia interpreted-premiered "Son-Ambulo" under the direction of colombian Conductor and pianist Felipe Aguirre at the Leon de Greiff auditorium. His chamber piece "Pater Noster” won the 2010 contest "Concurso Nacional Ciudad de Bogotá 2010" organized by the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra in cooperation with the Ministry of culture of Colombia. As a result of winning said contest he was granted the honor to receive master class with the renowned colombian composer Rodolfo Acosta. As a final result of taking these master classes, his work was premiered by an assembly hired by the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra in the Fabio Lozano auditorium. As of october of last year "Concierto a la Colombiana" is on the market in Leipzig-Germany and London-England; published by editorial Stark - Music and performed in concert on February 4th of this current year along with other Latin American composers. The concert had great success in Leipzig- Germany. The Chamber Music Festival of New York commissioned a Piano Quartet as a tribute to Gustav Mahler. His piece “ Reflections on Mahler”, was performed during the festival on september 16 of 2011 by the New York Piano Quartet conformed by members of the Metropolitan Opera and it’s going to be recorded on 2012 by the same ensemble for the CD “Songs for Mahler in the absence of words” on the Ulrich Audio Visual label. Nicolás Prada has been recognized as a very young, promising and gifted composer by the colombian media.
