Information: (composer website: http://www.sheelein.de/werke.htm) Steven Heelein was born in 1984 in Schweinfurt and taught himself organ at the age of 11. At this time his first attempts at composition emerged. From 1997 until 2001 Mr Heelein received formative piano lessons from Martin Seiwert, cantor at the Schweinfurt „Heilig-Geist“. Between 1998 and 2001 he attended the Vocational School of Music in Kronach, which was a significant steppingstone for the study of church music in Regensburg. Mr Heelein completed his studies in March 2006, gaining a degree in church music. Since 2002 Mr Heelein has worked as a church musician at the diocese in Regensburg. Mr Heelein has been intensively involved with composition and new music since 2004 under the guidance of renowned composer Franz Hummel. On the occasion of the commemorative year of Mozart in 2006 his Hommage à W.A.M. for five pianos was premiered in the Regensburg Church Music Conservatorium and the commissioned piece Missa in honorem St. Severini❠for soloists, choir and organ was performed in Passau.
