Osmo Tapio Räihälä has created a peculiar free-tonal composition style all his own. His output, almost all of it instrumental music, is inspired by things important to him, whether his football team (Everton), rock paintings or single malt whisky. “Räihälä himself experiences music as images: colours, shapes, lines, shadows... These visual associations may be experienced in his music for instance in the shifting of styles, the contrasts between motifs and the clear-cut melodic sequences,” writes Tanja Tiekso. Räihälä is also a music presenter with the Finnish Broadcasting Company, equally at home with progressive rock and punk as with Western classical music.
