Information: Malcolm Goldstein (b. Brooklyn, New York, United States, March 27, 1936) is a violinist and composer specializing in new music, free improvisation, avant-garde music, and music for dance starting in the early 1960s. Though a native and long time resident of New York City, he has also lived in Boston and has been an active member of the Boston arts community. He now lives in Montreal and Sheffield, Vermont. He frequently presents solo violin concerts and has performed in the United States, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. He is the author of the book Sounding the Full Circle. His 1991 recording Sounding the New Violin consists entirely of 20th century works for solo violin. In the recent years, Goldstein has been collaborating with Chinese pipa virtuoso Liu Fang on duo improvisation, and released a new album under the title "Along the Way" in 2010.
