The composer Arthur Hinton was married to the pianoplayer Goodson. He was born in Beckenham, Kent, 20 Nov 1869; educated, Shrewsbury School; entered RAM and studied violin and composition; appointed Sub-Professor, RAM; studied composition under Joseph Rheinberger in Munich; appointed Professor of Composition, RAM, and an examiner to the Associated Board; died Rottingdean, Sussex, 11 Aug 1941. His works, include 2 symphonies, an opera `Tamara', 2 operettas, chamber music, a suite `Endymion', piano music and songs. His Concerto in D minor for piano and orchestra was frequently performed by his wife. |
