Peculiarities: The Piano Quartet 'Stardust' was written in the winter of 2009, to mark the founding of the Amsterdam Chamber Soloists.
Information: Thomas Beijer (1988) started his first pianostudies at the age of eight with pianist and pianoteacher Loes Geusebroek. He studied music theory with Martin Kloos. In 2002, he was accepted to the Sweelinck Academy of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where he studied with Marjès Benoist. In the same year he was granted the "Scholarship for Young Masters"; which enabled him to attend master classes in Italy, with Elza Kolodin. Since the age of sixteen Thomas Beijer has studied with the international renowned pianist and mentor Jan Wijn at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2006 Thomas Beijer won the First Prize of the National Final of the SJMN Competition (Young Music Talent Foundation Netherlands) and was awarded 'Young Mucisian of the Year'. In 2007 an international jury awarded Thomas Beijer the First Prize in the prestigeous YPF National Piano Competition. May 2009 Thomas Beijer graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with triple A with Highest Distinction. He presently continues his Masterstudies with Jan Wijn. In october 2010 a jury representing the Dutch Concert Halls, Radio 4 and the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest choose four finalists who will participate in the Concert-tour of the Vriendenkrans/Het Debuut competition. Thomas Beijer was nominated twice; as pianist solo and with the chambermusic ensemble The Amsterdam Chamber Soloists.
