Ukrainian composer, musicologist and teacher. Studied music at the Lysenko Institute in Lvov with Barvinsky and, after the outbreak of World War I, in Vienna. Then studied with Chibinsky at the Lvov Conservatoire, graduating in 1921. Continued to study and to work in Vienna and Berlin between 1921 and 1930. In Berlin her teachers included Schoenberg and Schrecker. From 1930-1934, studied in Prague with Novak. Taught at the Lysenko Institute in Lvov from 1935-1939, and at the Lvov Conservatoire from 1939-1944. She settled in England in 1946.
